Network Storage and Disks

I’m concerned about the storage space I have available for the following reasons:

a) I only have so much space on my laptop.
b) I don’t want to leave the main machine booted all the while
c) I don’t want a USB hard drive – as it’s another thing hanging out of the back of my laptop everytime I want to use it.
d) I need efficient backup space for my MP3’s (could we consolidate our iTunes collection on such a device?) and my digital photos and video.

So, I’ve been looking at storage solutions, I’m quite taken with the idea of an ethernet hard drive, and the best way of doing this seems to be the SC101 from Netgear. I’m doing some more reasarch on it, but it looks like it’s the product for me! Now how big a hard drive do I want to put into it?!?!!?
