Getting Back on the Horse!

No – I don’t ride, but getting back on the horse is still a tough thing to do when you’ve taken a knock, whatever the circumstances…. I’ve had a fairly tough year this year to date (some of which you’ll have heard about back in February), but I’m picking myself up again slowly, I’ve been back at work for a while now (with the assistance of my doctors and a few tablets on the way!). My panic seems to be keeping tabs on itself, and the stress levels are OK-ish so long as nobody rocks the boat (believe me, generally somebody rocks the boat at least once per day!!). I have no energy for some things, and a massive renewed… Continue reading »

Comments Bite Back!

I registered with backtype the other day. I quite like it as a way of seeing where I’m commenting and on what! Speed movie Matt pointed out that he couldn’t see the point of it, but I quite like the idea of using their widget to show other people what I’m commenting on and what I’ve said (beats a blogroll any day in my opinion!).

To All Commentors & Lurkers!

The Lion King 1½ ipod Apparently all commentors fit into categories (via Alexia), which are you? Also if you lurk here and read but don’t comment – what would make you comment (and which category would you belong in!?!?).

Automation – Making your life Easier, 600 steps at a time!

Those that know me, know that I’m a programmer (amongst other things!), and I love automation, I have this vast frustration when people are repeating the same manual steps hundreds and hundreds of times. Bloggers tend to “get” the whole process of automation, they’re used to having plugins that go away and do all their bidding for them, eBayers have started getting into this with bid sniping tools that bid frantically in the dying seconds of their auction. I’ve done a couple of pieces of work over the years automating fetching content from websites and displaying it in a different format or fetching it and providing a large amount of mathematical calculations, recently these jobs have centred around gamblings sites… Continue reading »

A Twittering Week

I’ve not posted since the 8th when I discussed making money on Twitter, I’ve twittered a bit (as I’ve found I can do that whilst I’m messing with other bits and bobs!), made some new Twitter friends… Training Day divx I’m wondering whether I should integrate Twitter more tightly with this blog for weeks like this, does anyone know any good tools for doing this? I already use Twitter Tools, to get my latest Twitter “Tweets” under “What I’m doing…” on the right, it’s capable of converting all my tweets into blog posts (that would seem daft given the randomness of my Tweets in just 160 characters!), and I definitely don’t want it posting a daily digest (the updates wouldn’t… Continue reading »

Giving up the day Job?

To become a blogger? I’d love to! Sit at home all day and blog, blog, blog! I do read problogger.net occasionally but more often than not don’t find the time! So when Bes posted “What is a professional Blogger?” I was intrigued! I’d classify pro-blogging as earning enough to give up the day job, as in I can do it as a profession – but Bes puts some interesting spins on that, Traffic If it’s based on traffic I don’t stand a chance, I haven’t got a clue how many people read my rantings, but it’s not many! RSS Subscribers I think I’ve got a few when I look at my stats, but I’m not really sure – is there… Continue reading »

I know I’ve mentioned it twice in the last two days already, but after joining Bumpzee, I decided that I’d create a community on Bumpzee of my own, but about what I hear you ask……. Bored Surfing! It’s Friday afternoon in our office, half the team have just returned from the pub, and I’ve done a spot of blog surfing finding things to read, and I wondered exactly how many bloggers out there might be doing the same? So if you’re blogging or bored on a Friday afternoon why not join Bored Surf :: Something New to Read? http://www.bumpzee.com/somethingnew/
