Auntie Spam’s Gone Away!

I’m a big fan of Auntie Spam for cleaning out all the rubbish that Akismet collects, but this appears to be something that no longer works in the 2.7 upgrade – I just hope someone updates the greasemonkey script!

Coltrane Here We Come…. WordPress 2.7

I’m incredibly lucky to have WPAU on my blog which has made the upgrade to WordPress 2.7 (Coltrane) relatively painless.. The Great Dictator divx This is probably the most talked about release in the WordPress history, with blog after blog discussing it. So here goes: Logging in WordPress I see the familiar: WordPress 2.7 is available! Please update now. Luckily because of WPAU I also see…. Click Here to Automatically Upgrade WordPress to latest Version. Clicking the Auto Upgrade, I do the usual things: Fill in my FTP details Backup files Backup Database (all my tables – why is there not a check all option in WPAU?) Fetch the latest version. Put the site in maintenance mode Deactivates the plugins… Continue reading »

Change Permalink Structure?

The In-Laws download I don’t particularly like my current Permalink structure, has anybody had any success with Dean Lee’s Permalink Migration Plugin?

Photoshop – on Reflection (Whoops!)

I really need to play with Photoshop/The Gimp more, as I’ve got tonnes of photos that would probably look loads better with a little editing. But a must read recently has become PsD Photoshop Disasters. A couple of brilliant reflection posts recently have been: Pitch Black full movie Take a look it’s well worth subscribing to!

Google Chrome : First Impressions

OK, I resisted it a little bit, but I finally went and downloaded Google Chrome…. Interesting that it’s only available for Windows first and not Mac, but Google must figure that market is already sewn up by Safari on the Mac (mind you the way Apple keep offering me Safari with iTunes it must be on half of Windows users machines by now – anyone know how I stop that?!). 475kB download??? I assumed it was quick because I’m on the corporate network and it’s probably in the cache but that will be quick on almost any connection – I’m suspecting it downloads more stuff as it installs? Installation is a couple of clicks and it’s away… Interestingly at work… Continue reading »

Auntie Spam

.!. I’m always loathed to just click the “Delete All” in my Akismet Spam box – just in case there’s something there I really would like to read, or even edit to make into quality content. However I really can’t face piling through pages and pages of spam with links to all manner of things… Then I found Auntie Spam, a script that works with GreaseMonkey in Firefox (you should already have GreaseMonkey installed if you’re using the Google Reader timesaving preview. Apparently: Akismet Auntie Spam is a kind old lady who will come to your house and give it a thorough cleaning. She’s not afraid of the dark corners, particularly the spam inbox because she knows exactly how to… Continue reading »

Full throttle feeds – Now available – Subscribe Today!

Double Jeopardy dvdrip Get your full feed right here …. For today only … Roll up, roll up….. Actually I lie, it will be staying a full feed (for now at least!), I’ve had summary feeds turned on in the past to encourage people to come to the site, have a read and a browse around rather than just reading that one article that appears as my latest post in my RSS feed. I realised that I still browse to the website of many of the people’s blogs I read, if I want to comment (or use my fancy new Preview in Google Reader!) and often summary posts don’t tell me enough about the content of the post to even… Continue reading »
