Super Hacker! Traceroute?
Sorry, I simply couldn’t resist the title having watched this epic video on YouTube today! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXmv8quf_xM] The author of this video clearly thinks that traceroute tells you how many people are looking at a site! Worryingly this continues to the point where he tells you that less than twenty people are currently viewing google.com (if that’s the case they’ve seriously lost some popularity!!). The funniest part is that he does all this with so much authority. For those that don’t know (and that’s fine so long as you’re not broadcasting the fact by pretending you do know, and being wrong), tracert (or traceroute) is used to determine all the IP addresses you pass through on your way to a server,… Continue reading »
Classic Video Blooper
Chris (an old friend from way way back…) recently setup his own blog recently, given that he’s a Cameraman and Picture Editor working on International News it makes very interesting reading. However, when he posted this I couldn’t help laugh – The BBC mistake this Cab Driver for an IT expert… Genius! The look on his face when he realises what they’re about to do is pure genius!

Posting YouTube Videos (Again!)
You may remember many moons ago, I posted about what a bind it could be to put YouTube videos into WordPress Blogs (because WordPress got all excitable and corrected the HTML). Today I discovered a post from Caroline about a plugin that does the job! Wassup Rockers rip YouTube Brackets means that to insert a video I now do this: [ youtube=xxxxx] Where xxxxx is the URL of the video! This is the video posted yesterday about RFID cloning and how it was tagged! [ youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9isKnDiJNPk] And I can now insert this video that made me laugh yesterday: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_fPV13lKm4]
Leicester Paternoster
I’ve just updated this broken post on Posting YouTube Videos to WordPress, to allow me to post this video of the University of Leicester’s Paternoster lift – many a happy hour has been spent on that thing!!!
March Search Roundup!
What have people been looking up to find me this month I wonder, a quick glance at the stats reveals it’s been a pretty quiet month – with the biggest amount of visitors being the “bots” with Yahoo visiting nearly 3,000 times so far this month almost double it’s competitor MSN with only 1,600! Google still isn’t showing me the love at 797 and I may consider a change of theme soon to see if that helps. So, how did people come to me from the search engines this month: Skillett Well it’s my name, and the domain name – no real surprises there! Or are they really looking for Skillet, a Christian rock band from Memphis? 01772 208600 That… Continue reading »
A Slow News Day (or is it just damned odd!?)
It’s a damned odd news day (either that or it’s a very slow news day?!) I read the BBC News every day and these few things have sparked my attention! Turkey have banned YouTube, all because clips have been found on the site insulting former Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. According to the media there has been a “virtual war” (now that’s a first!) between Greeks and Turks, with videos showing Ataturk and Turks as homosexuals. Insulting Ataturk, can result in a prison offence. Turkish visitors to the site are now greeted with a message in English and Turkish reading “Access to www.youtube.com site has been suspended in accordance with decision no: 2007/384 dated 06.03.2007 of Istanbul First Criminal Peace… Continue reading »
