Leicester 3 – 0 Coventry
Craig Levein’s first game in charge was a convincing victory over Coventry. Lilian Nialis scored in the 27th at long range to take the lead. Danny Tiatto took advantage of Coventry’s inability to get a grip on the game in first-half injury time (despite using a five-man midfield). Matt Heath 72nd minute header put the game beyond the visitors!
Kelly named as Levein’s assistant
Former Foxes player, Rob Kelly has been named assistant manager. Kelly played for City in the 80’s before a back injury ended his career in 1990. Since then he has coached young players at Wolves and Watford, and spent 8 years building an excellent reputation for developing Blackburn’s youth academy.
Black joins Leicester
Kenny Black has resigned as assistant to Airdrie United, to join Levein at the Walker’s Stadium. Black was a tough-tackling yet skilful midfielder with Rangers, Hearts, Airdrieonians and Raith Rovers. Airdre Chairman, Jim Ballantyne said: I am absolutely certain that he will play an integral role in the turnaround of Leicester’s fortunes.
Levein confirms Bassett is to leave the club!!!
The new Leicester City boss Craig Levein has confirmed that the present director of football Dave Bassett is to leave the club! Bassett after having control in the past assumed temporary control of Leicester whilst a new manager was sought after Mickey Adams departure.
