New Anti Depressant Rules
Doctors are set to get new guidelines on anti-depressants, after concerns were raised that too many people are taking them. The guidelines from The National Institute for Clinical Excellence cover drugs such as Prozac and Seroxat, which are widely used across the UK. The guidelines suggest people with mild to moderate depression seek alternative treatments. 13 million prescriptions are written for SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) every year. People who are on SSRIs are advised not to stop taking them, or reduce their dose, without speaking to their GP.
