The new Leicester City boss Craig Levein has confirmed that the present director of football Dave Bassett is to leave the club!

Bassett after having control in the past assumed temporary control of Leicester whilst a new manager was sought after Mickey Adams departure. The former Hearts boss, Craig Levein said:

I’ve never worked with a director of football before.

“The way I’ve been working for the past six years is all I know, it’s worked for me and it makes sense for me to continue to do that.”

Levein has appointed Peter Houston (his former number two) as part of his management team at the Walker’s Stadium, but is still keen to appoint a number two with knowledge of the Championship (when will I get used to it be called that instead of Division 1?!?!? – which is still the old Division 2!?!?!)…

Levein also added:

Dave did a magnificent job here and I think everyone at the club is grateful to him for that.

But that’s football and people move on.
