Switching away from Microsoft Outlook?
Let me set the record straight for all those that have been querying me on the subject. I love Mozilla Firefox! I binned IE long ago and won’t even install IE7 currently! But I’m having some problems with the Mozilla alternative to Outlook, Thunderbird. Don’t get me wrong, I’m using Thunderbird daily, in all fairness I’m using it in IMAP mode only and still downloading everything to my damned huge PST file in Outlook on another machine for archive purposes. But what are the alternatives? I could go the whole hog and use Thunderbird for everything, and I do love some of it’s features – but detest others!! Maybe it’s the fact I’m running it in IMAP mode and haven’t… Continue reading »
Long Time No See
I haven’t written a blog post for ages, or at least it seems like ages… The stats report it was sometime in October, all before birthdays and holidays! Looks like I’ve got some catching up to do! Actually I can’t be bothered to catch up, it takes way too long – I think I’ll just resign myself to playing with this blog at least weekly going forward (if not daily!). How does that sound? Google! I’ve been doing some extensive work to get unbanned from Google. The previous blog that was here was badly configured and got spammed beyond comprehension (mainly with obscenities) and lead (I believe) to me being banned. I have since then tidied it up, locked off… Continue reading »
Firefox 2.0 returns tabs from the dead!
I quite like the sound of this, being able to bring tabs back from the dead in Firefox 2.0 will be fantastic. My only concern being, is this going to bloat the memory requirements of FF2.0 even more? I’m not upgraded yet, but often my Firefox memory roams upto 80-120MB!!! Ouch! Thoughts anyone?
WordPress MU
I say it’s been a quiet week on the blog and then I go and dump two posts in twenty minutes! I’ve been looking into a Multi-User Blogging format for a future project I have (it’s an event based project that’s several years away so I have time yet!). I haven’t found anything that really met my needs and was looking at farming it out and outsourcing it. However, people that know me already know I’m a fan of WordPress (which runs this blog) and am particularly interested at the moment in finding a way to use WordPress as a CMS rather than a blog. So being a big fan of WordPress I’m particularly interested in the new WordPress Multi… Continue reading »
Weddings, Affiliate Project X and Hosting
I’ve been fairly quiet on the old blogging thing this week, this is an effort to catch up a bit! We were at a wedding in Datchett, just up the road some of you may think. The 66 mile journey took some 3 hours after the M4 was reduced to one lane for an overturned lorry! So, a bit of a mad dash when we got there. We stayed in an innkeepers lodge (a room that was missing a TV remote and a couple of light bulbs – very odd!). I’ve been having a play with “Affiliate Project X“, an ebook I bought sometime back. I’ll be honest, it’s fallen on it’s backside and I’ve lost money at the minute…. Continue reading »
Blonde’s – Who’d have them!
A blonde, went running up to her neighbor friend in her driveway just jumping for joy! The neighbor didn’t know why she was jumping for joy but thought, what the heck, and starting jumping up and down along with her. The blonde said, “I have some really great news!” The neighbor said, “Great, tell me why you’ re so happy.” She stopped jumping, and breathing heavily from all the jumping up and down and shouted she was pregnant! The neighbor knew she had been trying for a while so she told her, “That’s great! I couldn’t be happier for you!” The blonde says excitedly, “There’s more … we are not having just one baby. We are going to have twins!”… Continue reading »
Netgear SC101 Review
In a previous post I was considering Network Storage – well I’ve bitten the bullett and here is the review of it! The Netgear SC101 is a fantastic piece of kit…. After my initial cock-up ordering a SATA drive instead of an IDE, I now have the toaster (or pig whichever you think it looks more like!!!) installed, up and running!! Within five minutes of slotting the drive in, I was partitioning the drive from my laptop. You have to install a set of software on every machine you want to be able to access the drives which is a little annoying but I can see why! The Netgear SC101 will take two hard drives at the same time, and… Continue reading »
